Through 17 years of dedicated production and support, the BAE Systems FMTV has become the medium tactical vehicle of choice for the U.S. Army. It performs a variety of roles from cargo and troop carrier, to shop and cargo van carrier, to artillery and air defense missile weapons carrier. The Army coined the term “ultra-reliable” to describe BAE Systems’ FMTV.

BAE Systems’ innate knowledge of the product and a committed long-term defense focus offers American taxpayers real value for the money that includes all the FMTV family with no start-up costs, no test costs and no additional supplier risk.

To date, BAE Systems has manufactured more than 56,000 FMTVs and trailers comprised of 29 variants. The FMTV has a 94 percent average operational readiness rate in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, the 85 percent commonality of parts among the FMTV models includes shared cabs, tires, engines, transmissions and power trains. This commonality significantly reduces the Army’s logistics burden and operating and support costs.

BAE Systems also offers an instant transition for all the program variants that were not included in the rebuy competition: HIMARS; MEADS; Low Velocity Air Drop and the Low Signature Armored Cab.
