BAE Systems has more than 3,200 employees and contractors dedicated to the FMTV program in Texas, Michigan and Ohio. Their dedication and ingenuity have ensured that throughout the life of the program, the FMTV meets the ever-evolving needs of U.S. Soldiers and Marines.
BAE Systems engineers developed the Low Signature Armored Cab in 2003 to provide crews with increased protection from enemy fire. More recently, the company designed and assembled the Caiman MRAP using the FMTV chassis and provided this advanced protection for our deployed forces in record time.
The more adaptable Long-Term Armor Strategy cab, currently in production, was developed over a three-year period, in cooperation with the Army as the newest-generation of the FMTV. It is the safest, most reliable medium tactical vehicle that can be provided to the men and women of the Army.
BAE Systems is also a proven partner for FMTV through-life support, being among the first companies to join the U.S. Department of Defense-sponsored Public Private Partnership (PPP), which takes private industry’s best practices and incorporates them into the Army’s depot industrial base. Our PPP centers on FMTV reset operations.
Since entering the PPP with Red River Army Depot (RRAD) in September 2006, BAE Systems has completed reset operations on approximately 750 trucks, expects to complete another 518 FMTV trucks in 2010, and is proactively preparing for a projected surge in reset operations.
